Language Arts 7

Today students began by working towards perfection on a noun quiz.  All students received 17 out of 20 or higher!

Students then recorded one last poetic device: oxymoron

Students then watched the following link, a TED talk by Shane Koyczan, which incorporated an important message with slam poetry.  Please be aware that there was one curse word... When I weighed the message he was promoting versus the use of a curse word in class, I deemed it to be worth the ear/manner offence.

Students then came up with some ideas they felt passionate about:

Finally, students were asked to choose a topic on which to write a slam poem.  Students were asked to make their opinion on the topic clear and then list reasons to back up their opinions.  This will be the outline which will form the basis of their slam poem.

Students were encouraged to begin their slam poem when ready.
