Remember to read pages 230-233 in your textbook.  You will have a quiz next class on everything we have studied in this chapter.

EN 8: Reminders from Thursday April 28

Thank you for your concentration in class today.  You need to make sure that you know the difference between "biography" and "autobiography," as well as complete your autobiographical poem.  A few of you forgot to hand this in to me at the end of class.  Remember the elements of story plot (specifically the different types of conflict) with regard to The Outsiders.  You will need to explain the relationship between the activating circumstance and the conflict.

You will have your unit test on The Outsiders this coming week on Wednesday May 3rd, 2011, so make sure that you have re-read the book!

SS 10: Homework Reminder - Tuesday, April 27

Quiz next class on the Oregon Territory, the Colony of Vancouver Island, and the Cariboo Road.

Please note that the Victoria Trip is on, but I need your permission forms in by May 13th.  If I don't have your permission slip, you cannot attend and your spot will be given to someone in another grade.

I am looking forward to visiting Victoria and really think it is a trip you will enjoy.

Make sure you have read The Outsiders in full.  You will want to go over your notes regarding elements of plot to ensure that you have the needed background knowledge for next class.  Remember: the activating circumstance sets up the conflict, the climax resolves the conflict.  If you missed the quiz today, see me about making it up.

Test next class on The War Between the Classes.  Make sure to study conflict, point of view, symbol, character traits, as well as elements of story plot.  You will have to know how all of these elements tie into the novel.  Good Luck!

Please remember your homework: Read chapter 8 of The Outsiders and choose three questions from your guide to practice integrating quotations.  Please make sure to follow the steps:
A) Question #
B) "Quotation"
C) Your full sentence answer with integrated "quotation."

Please make sure that you are able to discuss the plot in The War Between the Classes and that you can draw a plot diagram.  Also, make sure that you are familiar with the definitions of moral and theme.
