Tolquhon Castle

Today I looked out my window and decided it was time my room mate took me to a castle.  So we mustered up a few companions and off we went.

Portions of Tolquhon were built in the early 15th Century for a wealthy lord.

I love making myself dizzy, running up and down these winding cases.

As you can see, the castle is now in ruins.

While the sun was shining, I was glad to have worn my scarf and mitts, as it was cold in the shade.

I wanted to see every perspective of this castle and so my boots and I headed into the slosh so that I could see it from this angle.

Well worth the muck!

This is the type of beehive that I want!

Aberdeen Adventure

Tuesday night I ventured out as the tail end of the storm was fading.  The view from my bedroom window tempted me out to sea.  Here are some pics that I'd like to share:

This is the view from my bedroom window...
Here are some die-hards playing football.
This is the part of the view I like to focus on.
Debris from the storm... lots more where that came from!

Ah, the glorious sea... a ten minute walk from my apartment.

This one's for you Vicki-Jean!

This is the wave that engulfed my boot and soaked my foot.  The current was so strong, that I got the heck out of the water... as romantic as drowning in the North Sea might be...

That's interesting, for my dragon breath likes to breathe on boring students!

I just wanted to make clear to anyone planning a visit... so Mom, Mags, Danielle, Jeff, Munchkins, consider yourselves warned!

Finally Settled in Aberdeen!

Hello,

Well, here I am in Bonnie Scotland, thrilled to have found a flat near the university.  It is on the fourth and top floor and I have lovely views of the North Sea.

I spent the day yesterday being visited by the Queen of England... why go to her, when she'll come to me!  She was here to officially open the extensive new library facility on campus.

Here are some pics of my journey so far... I hope you enjoy.

By the way, that is Bishop William Elphinstone in that sarcophagus... an interesting connection to the coast.

Off to Scotland Soon

Well, in case anyone cares, I'm heading off to Scotland in 11 days.  The countdown is now on, for I've even gone so far as hauling up my suitcase from the crawl-space.  That must mean business.

At present, I'm feeling a mix of varying emotions and suppose that when I'm sitting on the plane, the most predominant will make itself known; there will be no turning back.
