Thursday, March 26 2015: English 8/9 (1)

Today students began with a 10 minute grammar exercise, where they were asked to turn singular nouns into their plural form.

Students then were introduced to one final poetic device, oxymoron:



Students then watched the following link, a TED talk by Shane Koyczan, which incorporated an important message with slam poetry.  Please be aware that there was one curse word... When I weighed the message he was promoting versus the use of a curse word in class, I deemed it to be worth the ear/manner offence.

Students then came up with some ideas they felt passionate about:



Finally, students used the information generated to begin creation of a slam poem.
