Monday, March 30 2015: Language Arts 7

Today students completed a quiz on poetic devices (the nine that we have studied).

Students watched a demonstration first with me finding poetic devices in the song 'Get Out The Way', by Mother Mother.

Students then chose a song to analyze.

Students shared their findings in small groups and collectively labeled any examples students were unsure of.

Finally, students were handed out the upcoming poetry project that they will be asked to complete.

This poetry project is DUE MONDAY APRIL 13TH.

Artistry

This project should demonstrate visually artistic elements as well as literary artistic elements.  You will be awarded a total of 8 marks for visual pleasantness based on the rubric provided on the back.  As well, you will be awarded 20 marks for your overall literary artistry (in other words, do your words paint a picture?  is your poetry sensible, meaningful, powerful?).  Again, use the rubric on the back to help you with the content of your poems.
