Today students began with a lesson on sentence structure (subject and predicate). Students should now understand that a sentence names and tells more.
We then began our yellow belt training of punctuation kung-fu!
Students had a chance to summarize chapters 6 & 7 of The Outsiders before completing their quiz. Make sure to see me if you have missed the quiz.
Students then went over story plot (see the graphic below). Students then created a topic sentence (TS) to express how the story plot relates to what they have read of The Outsiders. Students were then responsible for bulleting the activating circumstance (AC) of The Outsiders and two events from the rising action (RA).
Finally, we read the beginning of Chapter 8 together as a class. Students must read the rest of Chapter 8 and all of Chapter 9 for homework over the weekend.
