Next, students discussed the use of pride in the play:
- refusal to admit witchcraft
- John doesn't want his name shown on the church door
- Elizabeth doesn't admit that her husband is a lecher
- Hale returns to Salem through guilt
- Abigail, at first, denies her naughty behaviour in the woods
- Abigail claims that her name is still good in the town
Finally, students wrote a topic sentence to start them off for tomorrow's class, where we will write a full paragraph on instances of pride in The Crucible.
