Today students completed a journal entry. Predictions for the novel, The Outsiders, were checked.
Students then reviewed the function of a noun by watching the short School House Rock video on nouns, and by highlighting nouns from a selection from The Outsiders.
Finally, we read half of chapter one together. The rest of chapter one was assigned for homework with the promise of a short quiz on Thursday.

Today students worked to complete their letters to themselves. This has been a longstanding tradition at PHSS. Grade seven students write to themselves a letter that is to be opened upon graduation from secondary school. The finished product will be locked away until such a time!
Students have also been looking at parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns, prepositions, conjunctions, interjections.
Finally, we have begun reading the novel Touching Spirit Bear.
